Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand and Minister of Finance and National Revenue François-Philippe Champagne will conduct a bilateral visit to Mexico City from August 5-6, with the goal of strengthening the strategic partnership between Canada and Mexico.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs detailed in a statement that, during their visit, the ministers will hold meetings with President Claudia Sheinbaum and their respective Mexican cabinet counterparts, with the goal of advancing shared priorities such as economic growth, regional security, and strengthening bilateral trade.

The visit will also serve to pave the way for Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s upcoming official visit to Mexico, as part of a renewed push for dialogue between the two countries.

As part of efforts to deepen bilateral cooperation and promote common economic interests, Anand and Champagne will meet with a representative group of Canadian and Mexican business leaders, including key players in the integrated North American economy, as well as trade infrastructure and supply chains.

Minister Anand will also participate in a joint session of the North American Committee and the Foreign Relations Committee of the Mexican Senate, aimed at strengthening parliamentary relations between the two nations.

Canadian Ambassador to Mexico Cameron MacKay wrote on his social media account X: “I will be very pleased to welcome two high-ranking Canadian ministers for such a significant visit for bilateral relations.”
