A shooting that occurred early Saturday morning in the Benito Juárez community, part of the municipality of Durango, left two men injured, one of them a minor.
The first report came around 2:00 a.m., when a citizen informed authorities that he had heard at least four gunshots on Ponciano Arriaga Street, at the corner of Lerdo de Tejada Street, in the aforementioned town, and that he had also heard cries for help.
The witness indicated that there was a party hall nearby, which caused concern among those attending the event. For this reason, they immediately called the emergency number.
Emergency personnel and law enforcement immediately responded to the town, which is located within the city’s urban area.
Later, personnel from General Hospital 450 reported the arrival of two people injured by firearms, both from the Benito Juárez community.
The injured were identified as Juan, between 17 and 20 years old, and Jaime Solís Flores, 28, who suffered serious injuries and remain under specialized medical care.
Officers from the Criminal Investigation Police (PID) and forensic experts from the State Attorney General’s Office responded to the scene of the attack to gather evidence and determine the nature of the events, while the scene was secured by preventive measures.
No arrests have been reported yet in connection with this case, so authorities are continuing their investigation to clarify the motive for the attack and locate those responsible.
