The state is consolidating its position as a national benchmark in home healthcare with the “Doctor in Your Home” program, promoted by Governor Esteban Villegas Villarreal. This strategy brings free consultations, medications, screenings, and medical treatment to the homes of those most in need, avoiding travel and reducing expenses for families.

Coordinated by the Ministry of Health, headed by Moisés Nájera Torres, the program began in communities in the capital and now operates in 11 municipalities: Nuevo Ideal, Canatlán, Guadalupe Victoria, Peñón Blanco, Francisco I. Madero, Tamazula, Pueblo Nuevo, Durango, Nombre de Dios, Coneto de Comonfort, and San Juan del Río.

Since its implementation, “Doctor in Your Home” has provided more than 3,000 home consultations and visited more than 6,000 homes, prioritizing rural and hard-to-reach areas. The care primarily benefits people with physical, economic, or geographic limitations that prevent them from visiting a health center.

In addition to medical consultations, the program provides free medications, bandages, clinical study reviews, and functional aids such as wheelchairs, walkers, and prosthetics.

With this initiative, the Durango government guarantees dignified, timely, and free care, reinforcing its commitment to bringing health and well-being to every corner of the state.
