As part of Operation Tlaloque, SSC personnel assisted motorists and motorcyclists at various points in the city where flooding was reported due to heavy rains.
SSC personnel are assisting motorcyclists and motorists due to flooding at Viaducto and Río Churubusco, in the General Ignacio Zaragoza neighborhood. The flooding reached 50 meters and 40 centimeters of water depth, affecting road traffic in the area.
At the intersection of Viaducto and Circuito Interior, in the Granjas México neighborhood, a water table measuring approximately 40 meters and 20 centimeters of water depth was recorded.
In addition, extraordinary work was carried out on roads such as Marina Nacional and Circuito Interior, as well as on Viaducto and Fray Servando Teresa de Mier, with roadworks to facilitate vehicle flow.
During the rain, police officers cleared drains and removed trash to prevent flooding on Circuito Interior and Avenida Norte 172, in the Pensador Mexicano neighborhood, to name a few of the damage.
SSC Traffic personnel provided assistance to the driver of a van carrying six adults and three minors, who was stranded under the Chabacano Metro bridge.
They also restored traffic on the Periférico and México 68 side streets and worked on Periférico and San Antonio streets. The Secretariat of Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection (SGIRPC) issued red alerts for municipalities such as Álvaro Obregón, Azcapotzalco, Gustavo A. Madero, Iztacalco, Iztapalapa, Miguel Hidalgo, and Venustiano Carranza.
Additionally, an Orange Alert has been issued for persistent heavy rains and hail in the following areas: Benito Juárez, Coyoacán, Cuajimalpa, Magdalena Contreras, Tlalpan, and Xochimilco, and a Purple Alert has been issued for the Cuauhtémoc borough.
Widespread rains affected the arrival and departure of flights at Mexico City International Airport (AICM), which announced a temporary suspension and the diversion of planes to nearby airports. Furthermore, water leaks and puddles were reported in the corridors and concourses.
In the Cuauhtémoc borough, flooding occurred, including in the Zócalo (30 centimeters deep), on 16 de Septiembre Street a few steps from City Hall, and on streets in the Doctores neighborhood.
At Balbuena General Hospital, significant flooding of 100 meters was reported, entering various areas of the hospital, according to the Heroic Fire Department.
Conagua (National Water Commission) activates pumps to remove water that caused flooding in municipalities in the State of Mexico.
In light of the intense rains in the Valley of Mexico, the National Water Commission (Conagua) reported that it has put 37 pumps into operation to remove 74,000 liters per second of water that has flooded various municipalities in the State of Mexico.
On its official social media account, X stated that due to the flooding that occurred this Sunday afternoon and evening, these pumps will remove accumulated rainwater from various roads and streets in the metropolitan area of the Valley of Mexico, especially in Nezahualcóyotl and Ecatepec, where specialized equipment has been deployed to support the population and mitigate the effects of the rains on homes and streets.
