At her morning press conference this Friday, President Claudia Sheinbaum asserted that there is no investigation in Mexico linking her Venezuelan counterpart, Nicolás Maduro, to the Sinaloa Cartel, as the United States government had claimed.
The President urged the US administration, led by Donald Trump, to demonstrate the relationship between Maduro and this criminal group.
“This is the first time we’ve heard of this issue. There is no investigation, on the part of Mexico, that has anything to do with it, nothing. As we always say, if you have any evidence, let them show it. We have no evidence related to it,” Sheinbaum stated.
Just this Thursday, the US State Department announced that they will increase the reward offered for the arrest of Nicolás Maduro to $50 million.
US Attorney General Pam Bondi stressed that the Venezuelan president is “a threat to national security.”
