The Sinaloa government assured that urban service fares will remain unchanged.

The Director of Roads and Transportation, Marco Antonio Osuna Moreno, reiterated that there is no ruling for an increase and that the rumors circulating on social media are unfounded. “There is no fare increase, no ruling has been issued, there is no such thing as a ‘tarifazo’ (high rate hike). The day there is a fare adjustment, it will be announced through official channels of the State Government, as well as by the Directorate itself,” he stated.

Osuna Moreno explained that any future modification would require technical studies and consensus with the transportation sector.

“We are reengineering all routes, the 52 routes we operate,” he said.

Among the actions to improve service, the official highlighted the possible reactivation of routes such as the Fovissste route and the increase in the number of air-conditioned vehicles, which went from 55% to 65%.

“There is a differentiated fare: buses without air conditioning charge 11 pesos, and buses with air conditioning charge 12.50. We are seeking to have more urban buses equipped with air conditioning for the benefit of users,” he said.

He also reported that the mechanical condition of the buses, operator badges, training, and business plans of the transporters are being reviewed as part of a comprehensive strategy to improve the quality of public transportation in Sinaloa.
