The use of these accessories was denounced by Eme Equis journalist Jorge García Orozco, who shared three photos on his X account criticizing Morena’s rhetoric regarding republican austerity policies.
The journalist even shared a photo of Geraldine Ponce in the company of Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, pointing out that the term “fair mediation” is not respected even in the presence of the federal leader.
Today, Thursday, August 21, journalist Jorge García Orozco displayed photos on his social media of the mayor of Tepic, Nayarit, Geraldine Ponce wearing accessories worth more than 900,000 pesos.
And a Pasha de Cartier watch, which she indicated was worth 145,000 pesos.
The photo in which Geraldine Ponche appeared wearing a Pasha de Cartier watch showed the mayor of Tepic accompanied by President Claudia Sheinbaum, prompting the Eme Equis journalist to say that “even when they take photos with the president, they don’t respect the right balance.”
On July 29, at a press conference of the National Executive Council (CEN) of Morena in Querétaro, the national president of the party, Luisa María Alcalde, made a call following the vacations in Japan and Europe of Andrés Manuel López Beltrán and other Morena officials.
In this regard, she said she agreed with President Claudia Sheinbaum’s position that party leaders should lead by example regarding republican austerity policies.
“That means adopting the Juarista maxims in daily public and private life: living in just mediocrity and understanding that power is humility.”
However, she also clarified that under previous administrations, these types of trips were made with public funds; “private planes, private helicopters, entourages to travel here, there, to Europe, the United States, all over the world with the money of the people of Mexico,” she argued.
That said, the Morena president explained that there was no crime involved in the vacations of her party’s Organization Secretary or other officials:
“I want to clarify that in the case of what has come out recently, it was done with their own resources, which is neither a crime nor an act of corruption.”
