What does the scam involve in Puebla?

This type of fraud targets drivers and passengers traveling on the Puebla-Orizaba highway, as described in the video.

The witness indicated that the operation takes place next to a gas station, where the suspects approach customers of nearby businesses, such as an Oxxo store or a Starbucks coffee shop.

The location is the BP gas station at km 135 in Amozoc.

To attract attention, the individuals offer new pants that appear to be high-quality at very low prices, citing prices such as 50 or 60 pesos per item and appealing to empathy with phrases like “give me a hand.”

Due to the attractiveness of the offer, many people buy several pieces, sometimes between 10 and 30. When closing the sale, the scammers place the supposed merchandise in black bags, claiming it is for easy transport.

When the victims begin to examine their clothes, they realize they are used items or scraps of fabric. Upon returning to complain, they are threatened with firearms, and the scam is completed.

This modus operandi is not new in this area of the Puebla-Orizaba highway.
