Sinaloa is one of Mexico’s favorite vacation destinations, with more than 3.3 million tourists so far in 2025.

Mazatlán alone has welcomed 2.7 million tourists in the first eight months of the year.

From January to date, we have welcomed more than 2.7 million tourists to the port, with an average hotel occupancy rate of 75 percent. “In the state, more than 3.3 million visitors have already enjoyed Sinaloa so far in 2025,” stated State Tourism Secretary Mireya Sosa Osuna.

The state official noted that during the current summer season, hotel occupancy during weekends in the port has remained between 80 and 95 percent, reflecting visitor preference for the destination.

We continue to focus on segments such as meeting tourism and sports tourism, which help balance occupancy and reduce seasonality,” she noted.

Mazatlán’s visitors have come primarily from:

Durango
Chihuahua
Coahuila
Nuevo León
Juárez
Querétaro
Zacatecas
Tijuana
Mexico City
Jalisco.

Sosa Osuna reiterated the promotional work being carried out by the Ministry of Tourism at the national and international levels to consolidate Sinaloa as a strategic and competitive destination.

In this regard, we just returned from IBTM Americas, where we had very positive results: 346 business meetings, 15 potential inspection visits to Culiacán, Mazatlán, and Los Mochis, and more than a thousand visitors to the Sinaloa stand. This confirms that Sinaloa continues to consolidate itself as a strategic and competitive destination,” he explained.

In the case of Mazatlán, Culiacán, and Los Mochis, campaigns are being promoted with commercial partners, such as airlines Viva Aerobús, Volaris TAR, and Aeroméxico, as well as online travel agencies (OTAs) such as Despegar, Best Day, Price Travel, Expedia, and tour operators.

“Internationally, we participate in world-class events such as IBTM Americas and are preparing for Sinaloa’s presence at the Tianguis de Pueblos Mágicos and FITUR, which will be held in early 2026. Meanwhile, at the national level, we are carrying out promotional campaigns in national media that include familiarization trips to our destinations and the 5 Magical Towns, both with influencers and the media,” he emphasized.

Furthermore, Sinaloa is part of BBVA’s “I Love Mexico” campaign, promoted by the Federal Ministry of Tourism (Sectoral Sectur Federal), which includes destinations such as Topolobampo, El Fuerte, and Mazatlán, with promotional spots projected in more than 1,700 locations throughout Mexico, generating more than 150 million monthly views.

We are also working intensively in indigenous and rural communities, with the goal of developing and strengthening community tourism, respecting their biocultural heritage and ensuring that they are the protagonists of their own development.

We are launching these activities in Capomos (El Fuerte) and San Miguel Zapotitlán (Ahome), where we have been working directly with the indigenous councils these past few days,” he emphasized.

And in September, the Colores y Raíces program will launch in the Magical and Stately Towns, in coordination with the Instituto Sinaloense de Cultura, bringing an extensive cultural agenda to each of them.
