Durango is experiencing a historic period of economic growth. According to Governor Esteban Villegas’ Third Annual Report, the state has established itself as a national and international benchmark for attracting investment, with 28 companies already established and operating, representing an investment of nearly $8 billion. These projects have created more than 20,000 direct jobs and 80,000 indirect jobs.
“A giant is built on a strong and prosperous agricultural sector, but also on jobs, investment, and confidence. Today, Durango is in the spotlight throughout Mexico and the world, with new industries, the largest data centers in Latin America, and an agricultural sector that never stops,” the Governor stated.
Boosting the agricultural sector has been an essential part of this strategy. More than 50,000 families have benefited from programs focused on agricultural development, such as the provision of feed supplements for 98,000 head of cattle, 2,500 tons of bean, oat, sorghum, and alfalfa seeds for 13,000 producers, and the incorporation of agricultural drones that improve productivity and water use.
