Following the clash between Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) senator Alejandro “Alito” Moreno Cárdenas in the legislative chamber on Wednesday, August 27, which resulted in a physical confrontation with legislator Gerardo Fernández Noroña, the issue of the PRI leader’s multimillion-dollar home has resurfaced at the center of debate.
The social media spotlight was also drawn to Noroña’s criticism for owning a house valued at approximately 12 million pesos. The comparison was immediate, as Alito Moreno’s house, according to media reports, was estimated to be worth 300 million pesos, based on the notable news that circulated in 2022.
That year, following the release of a video by the Campeche Prosecutor’s Office, headed by Renato Sales Heredia, showing the search conducted at the PRI national leader’s home in the Lomas del Castillo neighborhood of Campeche, Governor Layda Sansores presented new drone images that revealed additional details of the PRI leader’s alleged property.
The aerial images revealed aspects of the residence, which, according to Layda Sansores, includes 17 plots of land registered in the names of various members of Alejandro Moreno Cárdenas’s family. During the description of the home’s features, Sansores noted, “Even the dog slept with air conditioning and the nightstand outside, in the heat. It’s not fair,” referring to the luxuries present in the residence.
The recording was shown during the broadcast of the program El martes del jaguar, where the state governor had Renato Sales as a guest. The two discussed the details of the property, which was previously searched by the state prosecutor’s office.
Offering details about the property, it was explained that the land where the kitchen is located is registered in the name of Alejandro Moreno’s mother, while the space where the living room is located belongs to his brother. Renato Sales Heredia added that the game room is registered in the architect’s name. Aerial shots show that the mansion is equipped with extensive gardens, swimming pools, lounge areas, and solar panels on the main buildings.
Another video showed the home’s master bathroom, which features luxurious finishes, including marble, porcelain, and fine woods. According to comments made during the exhibition, some of these materials were imported from Italy, and the estimated cost of this section alone amounts to nearly three million pesos.
