Foreign investment in Chihuahua registered a 13% decrease compared to last year, amid a context marked by the United States government’s tariff policy and the start of President Trump’s new administration.
Despite this decline, the Secretary of Innovation and Economic Development, Ulises Alejandro Fernández Gamboa, noted that the performance remains within expectations and that the state maintains its role as one of the country’s main export platforms.
According to official reports, by the end of 2024, state exports reached nearly $1.5 billion, while for 2025, a range of between $1 billion and $1.5 billion was projected.
“The trend we predicted at the beginning of the year is not at the expected level, but rather above it. A 13% decrease in the current context is not a decline, but rather a cycle,” Fernández Gamboa stated.
He explained that in the first half of this year, the figure has already exceeded $930 million, which represents a positive step forward given the uncertainty of the international outlook.
The secretary added that, although the downward trend was anticipated since the beginning of the year, “the impacts have not been as profound as feared, since more than 80% of the state’s export products have not been directly affected by the tariffs.”
He emphasized that, beyond the uncertainty and volatility in decision-making, the daily dynamics of business development, with Chihuahua being the main export platform, have not been as negatively impacted as previously thought. “The impacts that the clusters anticipated have not been reflected or deepened.”
Although the indicators reflect a degree of stability, the state government emphasized that it will be necessary to closely monitor the evolution of the tariff measures and their impact on productive sectors, in addition to maintaining constant communication with companies, clusters, and business organizations to address any impact in a timely manner.
It was also reported that they are in communication with the Federation so that, in the event of any impact, it will be immediately reported and action can be taken.
