Copa Kuira Bá Chihuahua strengthens community ties and sports in Indigenous communities.

The event was jointly promoted by the Secretariat of Indigenous Peoples and Communities (SPyCI), the Chihuahua Institute of Sports and Physical Culture (ICHD), and the Chihuahua City Council, with the participation of athletes who used basketball to create a space to showcase their talent, discipline, and commitment.

The awards ceremony was attended by SPyCI Secretary Enrique Rascón Carrillo, Mario Nieto, representing the ICHD; Councilwoman Joni Barajas; and Froilán Fuentes and María Juárez, captains of the winning teams in both divisions.

In the women’s category, the championship went to Girls, who were recognized as the champions of this edition of the Kuira Bá Chihuahua Cup, while Linces took third place and Panteras finished second.

In the men’s category, the champions were the members of Choguita. Clippers finished in third place, while Warriors took second.

In addition to recognizing the winners, the ceremony highlighted the participation of all the players who took part in the Cup, emphasizing that each game represents an opportunity to promote active lifestyles, strengthen community ties, and create spaces for social interaction.

As part of the event, a special recognition was presented to Raúl Mateo Meneses for his 19-year career as a sports promoter in Indigenous communities.

His work was highlighted as an example of perseverance and commitment to the development of sports and the creation of opportunities for children, young people, and members of Indigenous communities, helping make sports a tool for integration and community empowerment.
