The murder of Sebastián Salazar, known as “Chachito,” aged just 14, has shocked Gómez Palacio, Durango, after three individuals held him hostage in a bakery, allegedly to play “Russian roulette.”
The minor, diagnosed with autism at a very young age, used to help out at the business to help support his family, but on September 6, one of the owners allegedly opened fire on “Chachito.”
What happened at the bakery in Gómez Palacio, Durango?
According to initial reports, around noon on September 6, Sebastián went to the bakery where he usually helped, washing trays or stacking boxes, to ask if they needed him to run any errands.
This wasn’t surprising to the family, as the teenager had dropped out of school due to his financial situation, so he worked as an odd job at various businesses.
However, that Saturday, sources indicate that the young man was held by Isaac and Uriel “N,” while a third individual, identified as Dante “N,” fired a revolver-type weapon three times.
These bullets also wounded a 30-year-old man who was present at the scene, while the attacker fled.
Family demands justice for Sebastián in Gómez Palacio, Durango
The crime against “Chachito” sparked outrage among friends, groups, and social media users, as acquaintances report that the minor didn’t harm anyone, and Dante “N” was fully aware of his condition.
Therefore, his family, accompanied by neighbors and groups such as Las Víboras in the La Laguna Desert, held a march to demand that the Prosecutor’s Office thoroughly investigate the case and that no one be covered up.
Accounts under the name “Justice for Sebastián” have also emerged on social media to raise awareness of the case and maintain pressure until all those responsible are arrested.
So far, the mayor of Gómez Palacio, Betzabé Martínez Arango, has stated that the municipality is providing support to the family and will lobby for progress in the investigation.
Meanwhile, reports are circulating that someone has been arrested in connection with the incident, although it has not been confirmed whether it is Dante “N” or one of those involved in the attack.
