Yucatán Week in Mexico City, to be held from October 3 to 12 at the Sports Palace, will not only showcase gastronomy, crafts, and tourism, but also strengthen investment in the state, Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena emphasized at a press conference.

“This event will not only be a cultural showcase but also a space for economic growth. There will be meetings with businesspeople, where our local entrepreneurs can build synergies and establish ties with companies in the Valley of Mexico, so they can learn about the potential for new markets in the peninsula.”

The current administration will carry out projects to encourage development and economic growth, including the modernization of the Deep Sea Port to attract larger ships and cruise ships. The modernization includes permanent dredging and the creation of 80 hectares of platforms with terminals, different from the current ones.

He noted that the Mayan Train will be extended to Puerto Progreso, which will facilitate cargo transportation.

“Also, the wellness centers, where companies will be able to set up shop very soon. We will have more natural gas when the pipeline that Engy is building is completed.

“Yucatán is a strategic location for the relocation of many companies, to take advantage of nearshoring, and for Yucatecan entrepreneurs to also take advantage of this economic growth.”

The governor outlined that his government will generate incentives to encourage investment, including tax incentives. “We are going to establish a wellness center in the city of Valladolid, with tax incentives and provide every facility so that companies can come to Yucatán and find the talent of the Yucatecans there.”

Jorge Ermilo Barrera, the state’s Secretary of Economy, added that international representation will also be present at Yucatán Week in Mexico City.
