The arrival of Sinaloans to settle in Durango has led to an increase in inflation for the state’s general products. In this regard, the Secretary of Economic Development (SEDECO), Fernando Rosas Palafox, clarified that those arriving are also entrepreneurs, bringing with them the creation of new jobs.
“Inflation has risen; this indicates that there is increased spending, increased demand, and greater economic activity; therefore, there is economic growth in Durango. Let’s work to ensure that everything we enjoy about the quality of life in Durango is not lost,” the state official stated.
He added that the arrival of Sinaloans will not saturate job offers, as those entering the state are people with their own businesses and, on the contrary, are creating new jobs in the state.
“They’re bringing their businesses, and on the contrary, they’re going to generate new economic activity for us, new job opportunities, and spending is also increasing,” meaning Sinaloans are supporting the local economy with their consumption and payment for services such as private education.
It’s not just Sinaloans who are arriving in Durango; the American magazine Forbes has ranked the state as the sixth city with the best quality of life, which is why we’ve also seen the influx of citizens from the neighboring country to the north seeking to settle in the state.
Durango has ceased to be a transit state and has become home to many seeking tranquility and security to establish their family life. “Sinaloans are Durango’s number one tourist; they’re simply staying now. I understand them; people see Durango as a safe place for their children,” Rosas Palafox stated.
Meanwhile, the state government remains vigilant about the movement of Sinaloans into the state as a result of the serious security situation in Sinaloa, ensuring that those entering are not linked to organized crime.
