250 murders were recorded in Mexico during the week of national holidays, according to preliminary figures from the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC).
An average of 50 murders per day during the period from September 15 to 19, according to the SSPC’s victim count.
September 19 was the most violent day of the last five, with 56 victims of intentional homicide, followed by Thursday, 54; Monday, 51; Tuesday, 48; and Wednesday, 41.
The most violent states during the week of national holidays are Chihuahua with 23 victims of intentional homicide; Guanajuato, 23; Sinaloa, 22; State of Mexico, 21; Baja California, 19; Morelos, 15; Veracruz, 14; Michoacán, 13; Mexico City, 9.
Chihuahua recorded seven intentional deaths last Monday, and Sinaloa reached the same number on Thursday, September 18.
As of Friday, there were 1,037 people murdered in September in the country, an average of 54.6 per day, according to the report on intentional homicide victims compiled by the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), based on reports from state prosecutors’ offices.
