Like every weekend, Mexico City has a wide variety of offerings for everyone. I highly recommend attending a festival where you can enjoy the culture and cuisine of Yucatán without leaving Mexico City. There will be dance, traditional music, and much more.
The Yucatán Festival at Los Pinos will be held this weekend only, specifically on September 20 and 21. Here you can enjoy countless dishes from this state, including, of course, cochinita pibil and lime soup.
Continuing with the gastronomic tour over the next few days, I’d like to tell you that there’s still a chance to eat some delicious esquites and bread at the Gastronomic and Corn Fair. Additionally, the Caldo Tlalpeño Festival, a true capital delicacy, will continue for the remainder of September.
Regarding weather conditions, remember that it’s September, and this is the rainiest month of the year in the capital. The coming days will be no different. Showers will continue with occasional heavy rainfall, with accumulated amounts exceeding 25 millimeters.
The weekend will be cloudy with brief periods of sunshine around midday. The temperature at dawn will be around 12°C, while in the afternoon the high will range between 23 and 25°C, with lower temperatures in the higher elevations of the city.
The state of Yucatán at Los Pinos
This cultural complex has become the venue for festivals about the culture of the Mexican states. This time, it’s Yucatán’s turn. As I mentioned, this festival will only take place on two days, Saturday the 20th and Sunday the 22nd. You can attend the festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
There will not only be food, but you’ll also see traditional dance performances, listen to music, and more. You’ll even find exhibits and a craft show. The festival will be held in Plaza Jacarandas, in the Los Pinos Cultural Complex.
Food and Corn Fair
The 2025 Food and Corn Fair continues in Milpa Alta. This gastronomic event not only features cooking, but also pays homage to the culinary heritage of the families of Santa Ana Tlacotenco. One of the most anticipated dishes is tlaxcales, a bread made with corn dough and cooked on a comal.
First Tlalpeño Caldo Festival
This gastronomic festival will last throughout the month of September and will be held in markets and restaurants located in the Tlalpan borough. Admission is free and begins at 2 p.m. You’ll enjoy this delicious dish originating from the Tlalpan borough.
Free Concert on the Islands of CU
To commemorate the 115th anniversary of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, the UNAM Philharmonic Orchestra will offer a free concert on the Islands of Ciudad Universitaria. Pieces from various musical genres will be performed, including European waltzes and Latin American music.
UNAM
The concert will take place next Saturday, September 20th. It will begin at 2:30 p.m. The concert will last about 50 minutes.
It will be outdoors, so you can enjoy a picnic while enjoying the music. Admission is free. Don’t forget to bring a blanket to make yourself more comfortable. The program includes selected pieces from the opera Carmen.
Titanic Virtual Reality Experience
Titanic VR: A Journey Through Time is a great virtual experience where you can be a passenger on the ship and explore the remains of the ocean liner. You can walk freely to explore the secrets of the ship and interact with everything around you.
This virtual tour will allow you to explore the Titanic, steer the wheel, chat with passengers and hear their stories, and even experience the moment of the shipwreck. The experience will take place in the Samara Satélite and Parque Las Antenas plazas.
