The film directed by Gabriel Ramos and starring Vico Escorcia, Joshua Okamoto, and Guillermo Alonso gains new international recognition.
This Monday, it was confirmed that Mexican talent is breaking boundaries, as the MosFest Film in Russia announced that the Saltillo-based film “El Desaire” won the Best Film award in the competition.
“We are very proud to be able to represent Mexico and Coahuila at various festivals around the world,” said Monterrey-based filmmaker Gabriel Ramos in a brief chat with VMÁS to celebrate the win.
In fact, the film will have a screening in Barcelona on October 1st, as part of the Love and Hope Festival.
THE ROAD OF “EL DESAIRE”
In addition, the Coahuila-based film earned six nominations at the Spanish festival: Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Cinematography, and Best Original Music.
The production, inspired by the corrido by Rosita Alvirez, has garnered several awards throughout its run at international festivals, and its Mexican premiere is awaited.
Another eagerly awaited result is that of the Elegant Film Festival in Calcutta, India, where the co-production of Vanguardia, Epic Film Institute, and Charles University was selected as a finalist. The verdict will be announced on November 16.
The script was written by Elena Barbosa, Jorge Sarmiento, and Alba Garza, along with Ramos. The cast was led by Vico Escorcia, Guillermo Alonso, Joshua Okamoto, Karen Martí, Gabriela de la Garza, and Irene Arcila.
