Two adults, a grandfather and a grandson, died from a swarm of bees while working with a tractor on a ranch located on Mexico Highway 15, 200 meters from the El Vainillo-El Recodo state highway, south of Mazatlán.
According to information on the scene, the ranch owners were working, clearing a cornfield, when a swarm of bees became agitated and began attacking them. The two men on the tractor were attacked by hundreds of bees and ran toward a lagoon in an irrigation canal. Two others took refuge inside their home and called emergency services.
However, the people who got into the water were unable to get out because they were already dead.

Upon arrival, paramedics from the Mazatlán Veteran Fire Department and Municipal Civil Protection entered the area and saw the bodies of two people floating in the water. When they were pulled to shore, each had hundreds of bee stings on their bodies.

The other two people were pulled to the side of the road and evaluated by Veteran Firefighters paramedics, but did not require hospitalization.
The two deceased, named Jorge and Javier “L,” were the owners of the ranch.
A beekeeper from the Municipal Ecology Department arrived at the scene and calmed the bees so that the forensic and investigative personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office could take charge of the corresponding procedures and remove the bodies for transfer to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo).
