The mayor of Calvillo, Daniel Romo Urrutia, stated that federal personnel had recently visited the municipality to evaluate the four Magical Towns currently in Aguascalientes.
Regarding the designation of Calvillo as a Magical Town, he mentioned that the federal evaluation process was carried out in this municipality, where the state’s four Magical Towns are located: Calvillo, San José de Gracia, Pabellón de Hidalgo, and Asientos.
He explained that the director of Magical Towns, Marco Molina, was received and reviewed, municipality by municipality, compliance with the requirements for maintaining the designation, and the corresponding documentation was submitted. He stated that Calvillo fully complied with the guidelines established by the federal authorities, although he claimed to be unaware of the situation in the other municipalities.

Romo Urrutia emphasized that the requirements include respecting a color scheme in the downtown area, having a Magical Town directorate within the municipal structure, and more, adding up to more than 100 in total. He explained that the major Magical Towns event will be held in November in Pachuca, Hidalgo, where it will be announced which municipalities will retain their designation, which will need to redouble their efforts, and which will be removed.
He specified that there are different schemes: AAA for established municipalities, AA for emerging ones, and A for those recently incorporated. Regarding security, he stated that Calvillo has positive indicators, without a single intentional homicide and with a decrease in crimes such as home, vehicle, and commercial burglary compared to 2024.
The mayor commented that, however, telephone extortion remains the crime that most plagues the municipality. He indicated that, although several reports have been received, only five cases have been completed so far this year.
Finally, he explained that regarding the annexes, four are being reviewed to ensure they are not overcrowded, provide medical care, and meet established conditions.
