Three former Rosarito Municipal Police officers are facing criminal proceedings for their alleged involvement in the forced disappearance of two people, one of them a minor, in events that occurred in 2020 in Baja California. The judicial decision was made after the Public Prosecutor’s Office presented evidence, which allowed the defendants to be brought to trial.

The judicial authority determined that Eusebio “F”, Jorge “D”, and Rosendo “V”, who were active members of the municipal police force at the time of the events, must face justice for the crime of forced disappearance of persons. This crime is defined in Articles 27 and 30 of the General Law on Forced Disappearance of Persons.

According to the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), the disappearance of the victims occurred in Rosarito, Baja California, in 2020. Among the victims is a minor, which adds seriousness to the case and underscores the social significance of the ongoing judicial process.

Following the execution of the arrest warrant, the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office provided the evidence that led the federal supervisory judge, based in Baja California, to issue the order of indictment. As a precautionary measure, the three defendants will remain in pretrial detention pending the next stage of the proceedings.

The criminal proceedings are based on federal legislation that penalizes forced disappearance, specifically the aforementioned articles of the General Law on Forced Disappearance of Persons, which establishes the responsibilities and sanctions for those who, as public servants, participate in this type of crime.

The case is currently in the supplementary investigation phase, a stage in which the parties may present new evidence and strengthen their positions before the court over the next three months.
