The probability of a tropical cyclone making landfall in Sonora between October 8 and 12 remains moderately high, according to MeteoAlert-Hermosillo, a platform specializing in real-time meteorological and climatological information.
The most likely scenario, should it advance toward the state of Sonora, points to the north-central and northwestern regions, while the probability is lower toward the center.
On the other hand, the monsoon could reactivate, generating thunderstorms as an indirect effect. The core of the rains and strongest winds would be concentrated in northwestern Sonora.
The platform forecasts an increase in the probability of rain starting on October 7, although the intensity and accumulation will directly depend on the path of the next tropical cyclone.
“Uncertainty remains considerable, so significant changes could still occur in the coming days,” it stated.
Finally, a tropical depression is expected to form this Friday, which could quickly evolve into Tropical Storm Priscilla.
