After “Lady Patadas” went viral across the internet, it became abundantly clear that a new viral personality is born every week in Mexico City. This time, it wasn’t due to a TikTok dance or a funny video, but rather a tense moment that became national gossip. A woman was caught on video assaulting a police officer in the Benito Juárez borough, and, as often happens on the internet, she was given a nickname that has since become a trending topic.
The video first circulated on X and then spread to Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram, accompanied by thousands of comments ranging from mockery to criticism. In the images, the woman is seen kicking a police officer who was trying to calm her down, while she screamed and insulted him nonstop.
According to the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC), the woman was trying to enter her ex-partner’s home. When they didn’t answer, she began banging on the door and shouting insults. After neighbors complained, a police officer arrived to try to calm the situation, but far from calming down, she became even more angry and ended up physically attacking him.
The videos show the officer trying to remain calm while being kicked, until more support personnel arrived and finally managed to arrest her. She was taken before a Civic Judge, but the case didn’t end there: as it was an assault on a public servant, she could face more serious penalties if it is considered a crime.
As with any scandal, the protagonist decided to give her version of events and, through a live broadcast, explained that what was seen in the video was the result of an anxiety and stress attack. She said her reaction was beyond her control: “I use an inhaler. Everyone has seen how I react when I have panic attacks. I can’t breathe,” she said.
She also stated that she felt pressured and that her behavior was a form of defense. She even accused journalist Carlos Jiménez of revealing her identity, which, according to her, unleashed a wave of hatred and attacks against her.
The identity of “Lady Patadas” has been a topic of debate on social media. According to journalist Carlos Jiménez, the woman’s name is Tania Moreno, and according to her daughter, she is 39 years old. Authorities have not officially confirmed this information. However, after seeing the woman’s reaction on social media, it seems she herself has confirmed the information.
On Facebook, a user named Valdrid Berrycloth wrote a message admitting that she is Lady Patadas’s daughter. In her text, she confessed:
“My mother is unfortunately a liar and manipulative person. She suffers from BPD (borderline personality disorder). She needs a psychiatrist, medication, and sometimes hospitalization, things she refuses to address due to her responsibility.”
In her post, Valdrid asserted that her mother is an unstable person. She said that during the time she lived with her, she suffered verbal, psychological, and financial abuse, as her mother preferred to spend money on drugs and alcohol instead of buying food for her and her younger brother. Valdrid is currently not living with her mother, and although she was reported missing, she stated that she is fine and much better than when she lived with Tania.
“Please don’t trust her, she is a completely sick person. She asks for funds and financial support for medical expenses, lying about the illness she really has… Anywhere is better than being with you, Mother.”
This is how the message ended, making it clear that her mother is not a good person. Although “Lady Patas” was initially brought before a Civic Judge, the matter is not over yet. In Mexico, assaulting a public servant can be considered a crime, which would entail a more serious legal process than a simple administrative sanction. For now, the SSC reported that it is providing legal support to the affected police officer, who will decide whether to file a formal complaint.
