With the presence of the Governor of Yucatán, Joaquín Diaz Mena, and the Federal Secretary of Tourism, Josefina Rodriguez Zamora, Yucatán Week opened in Mexico on Friday, October 3rd. This event highlights the state’s cultural, ancestral, and culinary richness, continuing until October 12th, 2025.
The ceremony began with a musical performance by the Yukalpetén Traditional Orchestra, winner of the National Prize for Sciences and Arts, under the direction of maestro Pedro Carlos Herrera.
The event, located on the esplanade of the Sports Palace in Mexico City, features booths representing municipalities, cities, and magical towns of Yucatán, featuring typical dishes and drinks, various types of guayaberas, handicrafts, and tourist information to guide visitors to the most important attractions in each location.
“Today I am proud to be inaugurating this 10-day edition, which transforms the Sports Palace into a true Mayan sanctuary, where our culture and identity will be accessible to everyone, with a cultural embrace and a bridge that unites Yucatán with all of Mexico,” said Yucatán Governor Joaquín Diaz Mena.
The state governor also thanked Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo for her support in disseminating culture and traditions and for being a fundamental part of bringing a part of Yucatán to each attendee.
For her part, Federal Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodriguez Zamora congratulated Governor Joaquin Diaz Mena for supporting his people and always seeking their well-being, and invited everyone to attend and enjoy this Yucatán Week.
“This is what President Claudia Sheinbaum seeks: to showcase the tourism, gastronomic, and cultural wealth that constitutes the greatness of Mexico in each of its states. Yucatán is in fashion, and Mexico is in fashion,” stated Rodriguez Zamora.
