More than 40 vehicles were allegedly damaged after falling at high speed into a large pothole that formed on the center lanes of Highway 57 heading toward Querétaro, just meters before the intersection to the La Piedad neighborhood in the municipality of El Marqués.
This pothole allegedly arose from the damage caused by the recent rains. This area had already been repaired with resurfacing work by maintenance personnel. This indicates that the water and the passage of heavy vehicles caused the material to loosen.
In the early hours of Tuesday, only five vehicles were reported to have fallen into the pothole. However, because it was not reported to the corresponding authorities, no authorities responded, and as the minutes passed, more vehicles fell into this pothole.
According to witnesses, more than 40 vehicles have already suffered damage to their suspensions, rims, and tires due to falling into this sinkhole, which has not yet been properly marked.
