Shortly before the end of the regular session of the Senate of the Republic, Emmanuel Reyes Carmona, of the Morena parliamentary group, extended an invitation to all citizens to attend the International Cervantino Festival, which begins this Thursday, October 10, in Guanajuato.

The legislator emphasized that this will be the 53rd edition of the festival, considered the most important cultural event in Latin America, with the participation of 3,458 artists from 31 countries, including 2,938 Mexican artists and 420 foreign artists.

Reyes Carmona emphasized that this edition will have the United Kingdom and the state of Veracruz as guests of honor, highlighting the multicultural richness of both.

He added that Guanajuato is ready to welcome visitors thanks to the improvement in security rates, thanks to the peacebuilding strategy implemented by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and the work of the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch.

In this regard, she stated that Guanajuato has managed to reduce crime by 61% from February to September. Among the activities she recommended are the traditional street parties, performances on the steps of the University of Guanajuato, a tour of the Callejón del Beso (Alley of the Kiss), and cultural visits to the Alhóndiga de Granaditas and the Pípila viewpoint.

Reyes Carmona pledged to send the senators the full festival program for those interested in attending and assured them that “Guanajuato is home to all Mexicans.”

For her part, Verónica Camino Farjat, also from the Morena parliamentary group, announced the holding of Yucatán Week in Mexico, which will take place at the Palacio de los Deportes (Sports Palace) in Mexico City.

More than 250 exhibitors will participate in this event and it will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. until Sunday, October 12.

Camino Farjat emphasized that the fair offers a showcase of the talent and cultural richness of the Yucatecan people, including the tasting of typical dishes prepared right on the premises.

“A little piece of the heart of Yucatán is here this week, in Mexico City,” said the legislator, who reiterated the invitation to learn about and enjoy the cultural and artisanal offerings of her state.
