Guanajuato once again stands out on the national scene by being among the nominees for the 2025 Food & Travel Reader Awards, a competition that recognizes excellence in gastronomy, hospitality, and tourist destinations in Mexico and Latin America.
In this edition, the state competes in five categories with seven nominations, consolidating its leadership as a world-class wine and gastronomy tourism destination.
Among the most relevant recognitions, Guanajuato was nominated for Best Wine Region in Mexico and also in the category of Best Destination in Mexico with its Wine Route, competing with Baja California Sur, Jalisco, Puerto Escondido, Riviera Nayarit, and Querétaro.

In this city, nominations include Rancho Xotolar in the category of Best Socially Responsible Tourism, and Bar Bekeb as one of the best bars in Mexico.
In terms of hospitality, three hotels in San Miguel de Allende are competing for Best Boutique Hotel in a Magical Town or Colonial City: Hotel Casa 1810 Centro, Cleviá San Miguel de Allende Autograph Collection, and Our Habitas San Miguel.
Recognition of Identity and Sustainability
The Food & Travel Reader Awards celebrate ten years of recognizing chefs, restaurants, hotels, and experiences that have transformed tourism in Mexico. Each nominee was chosen by a panel of 48 experts and the magazine’s editorial board. The winners will be determined by direct public vote.
The head of the Guanajuato Secretariat of Tourism and Identity, María Guadalupe Robles León, emphasized that this nomination is a result of hospitality and commitment to the state’s identity. She noted that tourism is experienced in every gastronomic and lodging experience that Guanajuato offers.
Voting is open from October 1, 2025, and will close on January 30, 2026, through the official Food & Travel Reader Awards website.
The winners will also be announced at the national awards ceremony in March 2026.
