In a historic event for the Northern Zone, the Secretary of Public Security, Óscar Alberto Aparicio Avendaño, and the Mayor, Fabiola Ricci Diestel, led the restoration of the Market and the Short-Haul Terminal for the City Hall, spaces that have sustained the local economy for more than 13 years and today guarantee decent, fear-free work for hundreds of families.

During his speech, the Secretary of Public Security recognized the Mayor’s efforts and commitment for her collaboration in the state security strategy. He emphasized that San Cristóbal de Las Casas has made significant progress in peace and order, a result of coordinated efforts with the State Government, headed by Dr. Eduardo Ramírez Aguilar.

Aparicio Avendaño urged residents not to trust organized crime groups again, recalling the difficult times the region has faced. She emphasized that the current government is working hand in hand with the people of Chiapas to guarantee security and that “the people are not to be trifled with,” making it clear that the authorities will act firmly against those who attempt to disturb the peace.

She also called for citizen complaints and community participation, highlighting the importance of working together to eradicate impunity and protect the rights of women and girls, in line with the zero-tolerance policy against gender-based violence promoted by the state governor.

For her part, President Fabiola Ricci Diestel reaffirmed that the restoration of the market and the terminal represents an act of social justice and economic strengthening. She officially introduced the new administrator, Iván de Jesús Alcázar Camposeco, who has the support of the state government and the Secretariat of Public Security. “This market is the heart and soul of our Northern Zone, and together we will strengthen it to revive its economy and guarantee security,” she stated.
