Querétaro Governor Mauricio Kuri González continued his tours of the Sierra Gorda, paying special attention to Federal Highway 120, the San Juan del Río-Xilitla highway, as it has been one of the hardest hit by recent days’ rains.
In a video posted on his social media, the governor showed the damage to various sections. At kilometer 147, near the community of Arquitos in the municipality of Pinal de Amoles, the sinkhole could increase in size and completely shut down several communities, posing a risk to both motorists and residents of the area.
The president also explained that there is also a risk of collapse in the area around kilometer 155 of the federal highway if the necessary supports are not provided. He announced that he will announce this situation during the evening meeting with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
Finally, he acknowledged the Mexican Army personnel who joined the cleanup and debris removal efforts on Highway 120 to allow access to the communities.
