David Méndez Huerta, representative of the “Let Democracy Continue” movement in this state, acknowledged that currents are already forming within Morena, following the end of former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s six-year term.

In a press conference, the former director of Public Security during the Félix Salgado Macedonio administration, reported that the reason for the visit to Zihuatanejo is to invite people to join this movement, which seeks to become a political party.

“Your voice and concerns are heard here; there are no conditions, religion, or groups that harm or limit people’s participation,” he said.

He indicated that they first seek to form the party and then participate in the 2027 electoral process, avoiding the same pitfalls that the political institutions have experienced over the years.

“We’re not just going for prerogatives or settling for a few seats; we all fit in here, and spaces are open to everyone in the country,” he stated.

He announced that the movement’s district assembly will be held on October 19th at the Stevens Hall in Zihuatanejo at 11:00 a.m.

He added that the enrichment achieved by politicians at the national level has tainted the “Urban Party,” and now that reelection is not allowed, parties like the Labor Party or the Green Ecologist Party of Mexico are opening their doors to those aspiring to the governorship, which is why they are seeking to form their own party.

“We are in the fourth transformation; we have some differences, and we want to be another option for the left in our country,” he said.
