In addition to the case of Hernán Bermúdez Requena, former Secretary of Security of Tabasco and alleged leader of La Barredora, and the inconsistencies in his asset declaration, in which he failed to report 79 million pesos he received between 2023 and 2024 from companies, the Tabasco native is under scrutiny for the excessive salaries received by his sons Adán Payambé López Estrada and Augusto Andrés López Estrada.

Investigations conducted by Emeequis found that Adán Payambé and Augusto Andrés earned substantial income from work in Congress, while both were pursuing their bachelor’s degrees.

In the case of Adán Payambé López Estrada, the media outlet found that in December 2018, he was hired on a fee basis by the Senate of the Republic to provide professional services.

According to the contract, valid from January 1 to June 30, 2019, a payment of 60,000 pesos was agreed upon, before income tax withholding, for consulting and “research, compilation, and/or analysis services related to the legislative process.”

This coincided with the first six months of Adán Augusto López’s administration in Tabasco.

But that’s not all: in 2022, Adán Payambé received a net monthly salary of 24,448 pesos as assistant secretary of the Tabasco Judicial Council.

That year, Adán Augusto López was Secretary of the Interior in the administration of Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

On the other hand, Augusto Andrés López Estrada was hired as an assistant by the Morena parliamentary group in the Chamber of Deputies, from October 2022 to May 2024.

Thus, Augusto Andrés earned gross salaries of up to 805,000 pesos during that period, earning 35,000 pesos gross monthly, which would be 28,792 pesos net after taxes.

Who are Adán Payambé and Augusto Andrés López Estrada?

Adán Payambé and Augusto Andrés López Estrada are two of the three children—along with Adrián Jesús—of Adán Augusto López and his wife, Dea Isabel Estrada Rodríguez.

Both studied law at the Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City campus.

According to information from the institution itself, tuition for law school costs 35,807 pesos if the ideal curriculum is followed, with 20 hours of classes per week, so a semester would cost 179,035 pesos.
