What’s happening with gasoline in Cancún? Long lines and shortages reported.

94

Since the early hours of Tuesday, October 7, several problems due to gasoline shortages have been reported in Cancún, Quintana Roo. Long lines were recorded, and service had to be suspended in some locations.

Some gas stations literally had to cordon off access to prevent motorists from entering, while others dispensed what little they had to long lines of drivers.

One of the most affected areas was the municipality of Benito Juárez, where supply problems were reported on Kabah Avenue, at the intersection with Niños Héroes and 20 de Noviembre.

The gas station brands that experienced problems were Pemex and La Gas, causing drivers to travel to other parts of Quintana Roo to get fuel.

Why was there no gasoline in Cancún?

The official cause of the gasoline shortage in various parts of Cancún has not yet been reported. However, local media report that it may have been a problem with the internal connection system, caused by heavy rains.

Thus, the storms may have directly impacted the system that transports gasoline to distribution points, causing a shortage or lack of gasoline.

For months, reports of gasoline shortages began to emerge in different parts of the country, from Cancún and Quintana Roo to other states such as Chiapas, Guerrero, and even Nuevo León.

Some of the affected states attributed the situation to a “pipeline strike,” as drivers had refused to transport gasoline due to nonpayment. However, so far, all shortages have been resolved in a matter of days, avoiding major consequences.
