Puerto Vallarta’s air connectivity will be strengthened beginning in the first quarter of 2026 with the addition of a new direct flight from San Luis Potosí, operated by Viva Aerobús.

This was announced by Jesús Salvador González Martínez, head of the San Luis Potosí Secretariat of Economic Development (SEDECO).

This new route responds to constant demand from the San Luis Potosí tourism and business sector, which recognizes Puerto Vallarta as one of the most attractive and frequent beach destinations for travelers in the region.

According to airline studies, Puerto Vallarta is the most in-demand destination from San Luis Potosí, which supports the viability and potential success of this connection.

González Martínez emphasized that the reactivation of the flight, which was previously operated by TAR and canceled without prior notice despite its profitability, represents a strategic priority for both the tourism and economic development of both states.

With this route, Puerto Vallarta reaffirms its position as one of the nation’s preferred destinations, not only for its sun and beach tourism offerings, but also for its hotel, gastronomic, and cultural infrastructure.

The connection with San Luis Potosí will open up new opportunities to attract high-net-worth visitors and long-stay visitors, as well as boost tourism during the off-season.

For its part, SEDECO is also considering adding other beach destinations such as Los Cabos and Ixtapa, although it notes that Puerto Vallarta currently leads the list of favorites for tourists from San Luis Potosí, along with Cancún.

In addition to the tourism focus, San Luis Potosí authorities are currently negotiating to establish new routes geared toward business tourism, particularly to Mexico City and Monterrey.

The resumption of flights to Puerto Vallarta is part of a comprehensive strategy to expand national air connectivity, strengthen tourism flows between regions, and generate greater economic benefits for established destinations like the Jalisco port.
