This weekend, the fifth edition of the Corregidora Wine Festival, Querétaro, was held in an event that brought together thousands of attendees at the Plaza Gran Cué. The celebration not only reflects the consolidation of the region’s winemaking tradition but also coincides with the granting of the first protected geographical indication for Mexican wine, a recognition that positions Querétaro as a benchmark for quality in the international market. The festival’s purpose is to showcase the diversity and excellence of the more than 350 wines produced in the area, represented by 30 different wineries, including Vinos del Marqués and Casa Vegil. The initiative also recognizes local producers, winemakers, viticulturists, academics, and communities that have contributed to the growth of winemaking in the state. The director of the Wine Cluster emphasized that the event’s success reflects the identity, climate, and traditions that make Querétaro a benchmark for wine production in Mexico, with labels currently bearing the region’s name around the world. The festival also marks the end of the state’s grape harvest season, a key stage for the harvest and production of the wines now on display at this important event. The initiative seeks to promote tourism and strengthen the local economy through the cultural and commercial impact of the wine industry.
