With the goal of reducing crime rates in the Central de Abasto (Basque Market), one of the areas with the greatest influx of people and commercial activity in the state, 10 coordinated searches were carried out at different points within this perimeter as part of Operation Pescador 3.0, reported the Oaxaca Attorney General’s Office (FGEO).

The state Attorney General, Bernardo Rodríguez Alamilla, detailed that 850 members of the State Investigation Agency (AEI), the Secretariat of National Defense (Defense), the National Guard, the State and Municipal Police, the Coordination for Human Rights (CADH), and the State Executive Commission for Comprehensive Victim Care (CEEAV) participated in this operation.

Rodríguez Alamilla specified that among the preliminary results of this deployment were the seizure of properties where packaged drugs were sold, as well as stolen property, and the arrest of several individuals for various criminal offenses.

With this operation, the Oaxaca Prosecutor’s Office and participating institutions are strengthening security and surveillance efforts in the area, with the goal of inhibiting, combating, and preventing crimes such as robbery of pedestrians, drug distribution, window smashing, vehicle theft, illegal sale of exotic animals, and the crime known as “Gota a Gota,” among others, particularly during the Day of the Dead celebrations, when the influx of visitors increases.

“We seek to generate conditions of peace and security so that citizens can confidently go shopping and conduct their commercial activities. Cooperation between corporations is essential,” stated the Oaxaca Prosecutor’s Office.

He added that the operational and intelligence actions, promoted by the FGEO (Foreign Office of the Federal Government) in coordination with security forces from all three levels of government and the armed forces, seek to preserve social peace and guarantee access to justice throughout Oaxaca.

With the participation of more than 850 personnel, the third phase of Operation Pescador was carried out, stemming from the strategic actions of the Oaxaca Seguro Program, coordinated by the FGEO (Federal Federal Police) through the Metropolitan Area Security Coordination Command, implemented at the capital’s Central Supply Center.

Simultaneously, security personnel carried out 10 coordinated searches at different points within this perimeter, resulting in the seizure of properties and the discovery of stolen property, as well as drugs packaged for sale and distribution.
