The city of Durango is preparing to host the sixth edition of the Durango New Mexican Cinema Festival from November 6th to 9th, 2025. This independent, self-managed event has established itself as a space for film exhibition and dialogue.
During the presentation of the official program at the Municipal Film Archive, festival founder Christian Sida, accompanied by director Paola Chavira and coordinators José Luis Cano and Gian Rubén, emphasized the importance of maintaining a space that supports local filmmakers and allows them to showcase their own stories.
Among the new features of this edition is the “From Location to Screening” section, which will bring films to various public spaces throughout the city, right where they were filmed. This initiative includes two feature films produced in Durango and will feature the filmmakers and actors, fostering a direct dialogue between the audience, the creators, and the locations that inspired the stories.
The festival maintains its flagship section, “Made in Durango,” which showcases the best short films by local filmmakers. This selection highlights the evolution of Durango cinema and the diverse creative output emerging from the state.
The Durango New Mexican Cinema Festival is a non-profit event, organized by volunteer filmmakers, whose objective is to promote film culture, create spaces for collaboration, and strengthen the state’s artistic identity.
