Governor Salomón Jara affirmed that the “El Tehuanito” suburban train, which will begin operations in December of this year in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, will improve the daily lives of thousands of people with a dignified, efficient, and low-cost service for working families.

In a press conference, the governor stated that “El Tehuanito” consists of two routes: North: Ubero-Ixtepec-Ubero, and South: Unión Hidalgo-Salina Cruz-Unión Hidalgo; covering a distance of 189 kilometers. The stations are 82.6 percent complete overall.

“I want to acknowledge and thank the visionary leadership of Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, who has poured her heart and soul into this project with a social focus, and today we are seeing it materialize here in Oaxaca,” he expressed.

In addition to discussing the “El Tehuanito” suburban train, Governor Salomón Jara celebrated the fact that Line K of the Interoceanic Railway is 87.68 percent complete, and that its first section is already undergoing testing and will be inaugurated soon.

Salomón Jara emphasized that these projects represent “development with a human face,” as they promote 14 Development Hubs for Well-being, which attract investment, generate well-paying jobs, and strengthen the social and economic integration of Oaxacan communities.

He expressed his gratitude for the work of the Mexican Navy, which has been key in the management and execution of the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, which has transported 135,000 passengers and 890,000 tons of cargo, including Hyundai vehicles, to the United States and Europe.

The success of this project is measured by the improvement in people’s quality of life, as evidenced by the thousands of home improvement grants, community projects, and the more than 5,500 direct jobs created.

“This is more than a logistics corridor; it is a corridor of hope that is uniting Oaxaca, connecting Mexico with the world, and, above all, restoring to the communities of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec and the state their right to a prosperous future,” concluded Salomón Jara.
