On Monday night, an armed attack took place in the municipality of Ocotlán de Morelos, a town located 45 kilometers from the state capital. The attack occurred in the town center. The wounded man was being transported by ambulance, but the assailants caught up with the vehicle and killed him.
Security sources reported that residents of the town reported hearing gunshots near the market. The attack occurred on Morelos Avenue, where a wounded man was found and received medical attention.
The assailants reportedly fled down 5 de Mayo Street. Paramedics from the municipal Civil Protection agency provided first aid and transported the wounded man, identified as Alfredo N. N. However, the attackers caught up with the ambulance and finished off the injured man.
This occurred as the ambulance was traveling on Federal Highway 175, Oaxaca-Puerto Ángel, near San Jacinto Chilateca, where the victim’s body was found lying in the back door.
Agents from the Oaxaca State Attorney General’s Office arrived at the scene to begin the legal investigation.
