Arturo Millet had been a fugitive from justice for months, and although he was prohibited from leaving Yucatán, he intended to flee to Cancún.
Millet Reyes allegedly defrauded hundreds of millions of pesos from several people and was sentenced to four years in prison and ordered to pay $2.8 million.
In November 2024, the judge overseeing the execution of sentences, Silvia Carolina Estrada Gamboa, gave Millet Reyes three days to turn himself in to serve his sentence, but he filed an appeal to extend his trial.
In June 2022, Millet Reyes was sentenced by the First Trial Court to pay $2.8 million and to four years in prison.
In October 2024, he failed to appear in court to modify the precautionary measures against him, due to another investigation for the same crime.
Millet Reyes must also answer for the crime of breach of trust, which is being investigated in a lawsuit for more than 117 million pesos for failing to deliver properties or return the money to a group of investors from Yucatán.
Millet Reyes is a partner in more than 20 companies registered with the Public Registry of Commerce, most of them in the real estate sector. In two of these companies, his partner is Hugo César Flores Toba, who is the brother-in-law of Felipe Enríquez Hernández, the former PRI delegate in Yucatán, who in turn is a close friend of former governor Ivonne Ortega Pacheco.
Millet Reyes shielded himself by claiming that his wife, Gabriela López Gómez, was an alternate senator for Morena, running mate of Marybel Villegas Canché, who has taken advantage of the immunity she has enjoyed in her political career and in the media, having served as an advisor to former governors.
