During the early hours of Sunday, November 23, a tragic incident occurred at a luxury hotel in Nogales, Sonora, where 19 people, including six minors, suffered carbon monoxide poisoning, allegedly caused by a malfunction in the heating system.
According to the local newspaper Expreso, based in Hermosillo, an incident was reported early Sunday morning at the Fiesta Inn Hotel, located in the southern part of the city. Several guests began experiencing symptoms of poisoning, such as dizziness, vomiting, and general malaise, prompting the immediate mobilization of emergency services.

Thanks to the rapid intervention of the State and Municipal Civil Protection agencies and the Fire Department, the situation was brought under control without any fatalities. In a statement released this morning, the state agency indicated that 13 adults and six minors received treatment for carbon monoxide poisoning; all of them were guests at the hotel.
The Nogales City Government confirmed the incident at the hotel and reported that, as a precaution, the third and fourth floors were evacuated. Three guests who presented severe symptoms were taken to local hospitals, but were later released.
Civil Protection personnel immediately inspected the premises and determined that the boilers should be temporarily shut down as a preventative measure. Verification and safety protocols are currently underway to ensure the hotel operates properly and to protect all guests and staff.
