The Government of Morelos, “The Land That Unites Us,” held the 4th edition of Down Tepoz 2025 on November 22nd and 23rd, a sporting event that brought together more than 280 runners from various parts of the country. The urban downhill race traversed the streets and emblematic landmarks of Tepoztlán’s Historic Center, generating a significant influx of visitors and a vibrant social scene in this Magical Town.
Throughout both days, businesses, restaurants, hotels, and service providers experienced increased foot traffic due to the presence of runners, teams, families, and fans who joined the event. The community atmosphere demonstrated how sports can strengthen the municipality’s public life and attract activities that promote community, entertainment, and healthy habits.
The Secretary of Tourism, Daniel Altafi Valladares, emphasized that Down Tepoz has proven to be a platform that boosts Morelos’s profile in the field of sports tourism. “This event confirms that when a community gets involved, spaces emerge that motivate young people, boost the economy, and showcase the organizational talent of our state,” he noted.
For the event, a coordinated operation was implemented with the Tepoztlán City Council, headed by Perseo Quiroz Rendón, as well as with municipal, state, and federal agencies responsible for security, civil protection, traffic, and logistics. This collaboration ensured an organized and accessible experience for runners and visitors.
Altafi Valladares emphasized that holding Down Tepoz 2025 reinforces the promotion of sporting activities that unite the community and revitalize local tourism.
With initiatives like this, Morelos is moving toward a dynamic, accessible, and socially conscious tourism model, where sports become a meeting point for those who live in and visit “The Spring of Mexico.”
