Tension over the security strategy in Morelos escalated with the placement of banners attributed to organized crime in Cuernavaca, Atlatlahucan, Yautepec, and Cuautla.
The messages were addressed to Governor Margarita González Saravia and demanded that the operation being carried out by federal and state authorities since July be withdrawn.
The banners, signed by the alleged commanders Griego and Roke, stated: “We ask in advance that you let us work and remove the government of Omar García Harfuch, who only comes to steal from the people of Morelos. This is the first and last warning. Stop supporting all the scum in the state of Morelos.”
“Cuautla Plan”
It should be noted that last July, state and federal governments launched the “Cuautla Plan” to curb criminal recruitment in eastern Morelos.
This was carried out at the instruction of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo during her most recent visit to Morelos. She will return to the state on Thursday on the occasion of her second annual government report.
Likewise, one of the banners was hung on the Mexico–Cuautla federal highway, on the pedestrian bridge in the community of Cerritos.
The bridge is located in the municipality of Atlatlahucan, where a meeting of Morelos mayors and former mayors with the head of the Pacific Cartel in Morelos, Jupiter Araujo Bernard, “El Barbas,” was reportedly held.
Charred Bodies Found in Cuautla
In Cuautla, the area where the banners were hung, the charred bodies of a man and a woman were found beneath the bridge known as “La Cartonera,” in the Tepeyac neighborhood.
The discovery was reported at 6:46 a.m., after emergency calls alerted authorities about two people engulfed in flames at the site.
As a result, municipal police officers and paramedics went to the scene.
They confirmed that the two victims were already showing no signs of life and had third-degree burns over their entire bodies.
Minutes earlier, at 6:00 a.m., authorities had secured a narcomanta placed on a vehicular bridge in the Empleado Municipal neighborhood, along the Cuautla–Izúcar de Matamoros highway.
