Salchi, also known as Playa Salchi or Bahía Salchi, is one of those places that looks like it came straight out of a tropical postcard, yet remains far from the crowds.
It’s a small, peaceful, and almost hidden bay in southern Oaxaca, where the sea, nature, and silence take center stage. If you’re looking for a destination that still retains that air of discovery, this corner of paradise is for you.
Salchi is the ideal destination for those who enjoy being near the sea but away from the hustle and bustle. Its semi-virgin beach, intense sunsets, and relaxed atmosphere make it an ideal place to disconnect from the daily grind.
Here you won’t find shopping malls or hotel chains; what you will find is an intimate bay, golden sand, and a sea of blue hues that change throughout the day.
Although very close to Huatulco, Salchi retains an authentic atmosphere, almost like a local secret discovered only by a few travelers.

Where is Salchi and how to get there?
Reaching this hidden paradise is easier than it seems. Salchi is located approximately 40 minutes from Huatulco Bays and less than an hour from the International Airport.
There are two main routes. From Oaxaca City, you can take a direct bus to Huatulco and then a taxi to Salchi. You can also take a direct flight to Huatulco and then travel by land.
The road can be rough, so it’s best to arrive in a pickup truck or other high-clearance vehicle. Also, keep in mind that there are no shops in the area, so it’s advisable to buy supplies before entering the bay.
