Querétaro is preparing for the twentieth Migrant Caravan, which will depart on December 17 at 3:30 a.m. from Laredo, Texas, organized by Migrantes Unidos en Caravana A.C. (United Migrants in Caravan). The Secretary of Government, Eric Gudiño Torres, led a coordination meeting where it was reported that 800 vehicles have registered so far, and that number is expected to increase in the coming days.

During the meeting with authorities from all three levels of government, Gudiño emphasized that Querétaro is the only state accompanying the caravan from its departure, with support from the State Police and emergency services. He stressed that the goal is to ensure the safe arrival of migrant families to reunite with their loved ones during the holiday season.

The Director of Emergencies for the State Civil Protection Coordination, Mariana Godard Guzmán, explained that the operation will involve 51 personnel and 20 state units, in addition to the Querétaro Task Force, comprised of municipalities from the Sierra and semi-desert regions, as well as fire departments. Of these, 38 personnel will cross into Laredo, while 11 will remain in Mexico.

It was also reported that coordination is already underway with Guanajuato, San Luis Potosí, Nuevo León, Coahuila, and Tamaulipas to secure the route. Municipal authorities and representatives of civil organizations emphasized that this operation transcends the technical aspects, becoming a humanitarian effort that strengthens the bond with migrants returning to the country after a difficult journey in search of better opportunities.
