A young girl of U.S. origin was rescued in a community in Oaxaca. She had been forcibly taken from her home in the United States and brought to Mexico, allegedly for the purpose of human trafficking.
The Oaxaca Attorney General’s Office reported that, in collaboration with agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the girl was located in the town of Temazcal, in the municipality of San Miguel Soyaltepec, in the Papaloapan River Basin region of Oaxaca.
The 16-year-old, originally from the United States, had been reported as abducted and in a vulnerable situation, the office explained.
According to the investigation, the teenager had been taken from her home in early December 2025, possibly to Mexico, and was considered at risk of human trafficking.
“The search operation, carried out by a specialized team from the Oaxaca State Attorney General’s Office (FGEO), through the State Investigation Agency (AEI) and the Regional Deputy Prosecutor’s Office for the Papaloapan Basin, stemmed from a request for assistance from agents of the FBI and the Embassy of the United States of America, who contacted Oaxaca authorities to carry out the corresponding actions,” the Attorney General’s Office added.
It reported that the teenager was located on December 8, 2025, and was in good physical condition and health. The victim was taken to the facilities of the Regional Deputy Prosecutor’s Office for the Papaloapan Basin for a medical examination, ensuring her safety at all times in order to guarantee her overall well-being.
Subsequently, the teenager was transported by land to the city of Oaxaca to continue with the necessary legal procedures before the National Migration Institute (INM) and thus finalize her safe return to the United States to reunite with her family.
