Venezuelan opposition leader and 2025 Nobel Peace Prize laureate María Corina Machado arrived at Oslo-Gardermoen International Airport on Wednesday night, December 10, aboard a Mexican private plane, according to flight records reviewed by this publication.

According to flight schedules and aeronautical data, the Embraer Legacy 600/650 aircraft, registration number XA-FUF, took off at 11:33 a.m. EST from Bangor International Airport (BGR) in Maine, USA, and landed at 11:56 a.m. CET in Oslo, after a flight of 6 hours and 23 minutes.

The documents do not show the name of the aircraft’s owner, but it operates under the Mexican flag. Previously, the same aircraft, belonging to the company Red Wings MRO, had flown routes between Toluca, Querétaro, Monterrey, Miami, and Curaçao in recent days.

The arrival of Machado, who had been in hiding for months to evade persecution by Nicolás Maduro’s government, marks her first public appearance since leaving Venezuela for Europe, where she will fulfill an official agenda coordinated by the Nobel Peace Prize Committee.

In the coming days, the Venezuelan opposition leader will meet with Norwegian authorities, including Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, and will also visit the Norwegian Parliament.

The presence of a Mexican aircraft in the transfer operation raises diplomatic questions about Mexico’s role in the opposition leader’s negotiated departure, although neither the Mexican government nor international authorities have commented on the matter.

According to an investigation by Publimetro, Red Wings has positioned itself as one of the key executive aviation companies in the country. Its growth is due to an innovative approach and operations that have already placed it among the largest companies in the sector. Today, the company has 95 employees and a fleet of 11 aircraft—including jets and helicopters—with flights exceeding forty hours of operation to destinations in the Americas and Europe.

The company website lists Bernardo Eucario Moreno León as CEO of Redwings. The former captain states on the site that he is an entrepreneur dedicated to the aviation industry, with a deep love for Mexico and all its wonders. His “daily goal is to work hard to build a better future for both my country and the people who work with me.”

At the age of twenty-four, Bernardo began working as a pilot for a private airline. After a few years, he decided to start his own company, a cargo service for DHL, where he honed his business skills. In 2007, he sold that company and founded Redwings.

Machado’s arrival comes amid growing diplomatic speculation in Washington and Europe about a possible “internal flexibility” within Maduro’s inner circle regarding potential political transitions in Venezuela.
