Producers Announce Pan-American Highway Blockade Due to Abuses by FGR Agents
Agricultural producers in the region will raise their voices against the abuses being committed by agents of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) at the checkpoint they have set up on the Chihuahua-Delicias highway near Bachimba. They issued the following statement:
“We, the agricultural, livestock, and dairy producers, are one family, and we demand respect from the government and authorities regarding the misconduct of agents of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR). They are extorting money from our fellow citizens traveling on Highway 45 near Bachimba, demanding amounts ranging from $200 to $2,000. They treat them poorly and open their suitcases, in both directions,” they commented.
“Those traveling are families coming to visit their relatives on the ranches who went to work in the United States. Those crooks who messed with the farmers over the water issue, why aren’t they intervening in this matter? It’s known they’re extorting people; they’re right there now, and we have photos and the people they’ve robbed. These FGR agents are doing this to our families, they’re brazenly stealing their money, forcing them to open their wallets and snatching it away. These guys carry badges and rob people in remote areas. Some are in Villa Ahumada, and others make another round in Bachimba,” they continued.
They also called on Governor Maru Campos to intervene and arrest them because they are criminals.
“This is the last straw. It’s intimidation by the Federal Government. We’ve already sent the situation to all the representatives so they can see from Mexico City what their agents are doing.”
Finally, they concluded by saying: “If they don’t remove them by Friday, we’re going to take over Highway 45, and a producer keeps his word. We’re going to take it over, and we won’t lift the blockade until they remove that bunch of rats, and not only remove them but also punish them.”
