36

A suspected leader of a criminal group was remanded in custody following his arrest in Durango state a few days ago.

The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) obtained pretrial detention for Edgar “R” for his alleged involvement in the crimes of stockpiling and carrying firearms, possession of ammunition and magazines, and drug trafficking.

At the initial hearing, the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPF) of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime (FEMDO) successfully argued that the arrest was legal.

When the hearing resumed after a recess, the prosecutor requested that the defendant be formally charged, but the defense invoked its right to extend the constitutional deadline for resolving his legal status.

Edgar “R”, identified as a suspected financial operator for a criminal group, was arrested in recent days by agents of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), the Secretariat of the Navy (Marina), in coordination with the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) and the National Intelligence Center (CNI).

This occurred during the execution of a search warrant in the vicinity of the José Guadalupe Rodríguez neighborhood in Durango, Durango, where long guns, a vehicle, ammunition magazines, tactical gear, and other items constituting evidence of a crime were seized.
