Quintana Roo is preparing to strengthen its position in international cruise tourism with its participation in Seatrade Cruise Global, the world’s leading cruise industry trade show, to be held from April 13-16, 2026, in Miami, Florida.

This event will bring together the world’s leading destinations, ports, and cruise lines, becoming a key platform for shaping the future of global maritime tourism.

The Mexican Association of Tourism Secretaries (Asetur) announced that the country will participate in a coordinated and unified manner, with representatives from all seven states that have cruise ship ports of call, aiming to solidify Mexico’s position as a strategic destination for major international cruise lines. This joint participation seeks to strengthen the country’s image, exchange experiences, and forge agreements that will drive the sector’s growth.

In this regard, Bernardo Cueto Riestra, Secretary of Tourism for Quintana Roo, emphasized that Seatrade Cruise Global represents a key opportunity not only to increase the arrival of cruise ships and passengers, but also to maximize the economic benefits for port regions.

“The goal is to leverage cruise tourism as a comprehensive platform that promotes local suppliers, tourism services, the work of artisans, and job creation, including in areas such as incorporating Mexicans into cruise ship crews,” he stated. The official stressed that the sector’s growth must translate into direct benefits for local communities.

Seatrade Cruise Global brings together destinations, ports, cruise lines, and specialized companies from around the world, allowing Mexico to strengthen strategic alliances, exchange best practices, and design joint strategies with other countries that receive cruise tourism.

Cozumel is on track to close 2025 with record-breaking cruise ship arrivals, consolidating its position as the leading port in the Mexican Caribbean in this segment, the Quintana Roo Port Authority (Apiqroo) recently reported.
